Tell me about DBR Axis Titanium

I actually read your thread but it never registered with me until you’ve just said. I tend to read any titanium builds but didn’t really pay attention to the brand but now I am.

The BB was fairly stuck. Had a quick go last night with a long breaker bar but no luck.

This morning went again but using a skewer to hold the tool in place and put the tool int he vice. Lots of lube and some grunting and it’s come out.

Spent a hour or so cleaning it up. Few scratches but nothing major. Yes it’s a satin finish now it’s clean.

2 cable guides on right side of top tube and 1 on left.

Frame number is DBR18578.

I’ll get pics shortly.

That looks to have more v brake friendly routing for cables than mine.

Like the decals, similar to my custom ones. I think black looks better than white, though white looks good with white forks.

Yeh it had a m950 brake fitted and looked good routing.

It was a real mish mash of parts though. Some quality stuff M900 , M950 , M739 etc and then some absolutely horrible semi modern bits.

The other bike I bought which led me to the axis ( now it’s clean )has a crack. Thankful it’s not the DBR but still not ideal.

Must admit the black decals do look tasty, tastier than the white/blacks on mine, my frame # is 181074 - not sure exactly what this means, it's also a digit longer than yours!? Fairly certain mines a 1994 from info from prev owners etc. Keep the satin grey look and don't rub it too hard as it'll disappear but looking great so far, as per the title mine was a sort of X-Lite tribute, I've been collecting up X-Lite bits over 2-3 years and thought this was the frame to show them off (despite not being British), Pace would have been a very good option also, but oddly i'm not actually very fond of them...

From what I’ve read the 18 is the size , and mine I assume is about 500 earlier than yours in build. Also from what I’ve read 94 was when the cable stops changed to be 2 on drive side and 1 on non. Maybe yours is later in 94 or even 95?

Yeah i'm running same cable stops as yours with 2 for gears on drive side and rear brake on non-drive side, I can only really go on what prev owners have said about it being a '94, love it nomatter what year it is. What fork do you have planned for yours, the Project 2 TB on mine is sublime, always will be my favorite fork i've ever ridden

To be honest I’ve no idea. I wasn’t really looking for another Ti retro bike but it was a package deal I got so thought why not.

To be honest I may even end up selling on as I really want a modern Ti gravel bike but keep spending my funds on retro stuff instead. Gonna have a ponder , and clear some other bits out and go from there. All this stuff going on at moment it’s nice to have bits to tinker with which is main reason I can’t stay away from eBay lol

If i did build it I think I’d go pace rigid of some version and then m900 or m737 maybe.

Depending your budget if you do want a nice modern Ti Gravel Frameset I may well consider selling my Ti Kenisis Tripster... it is gorgeous and doesn't get half the use it should, depending your height it should suit someone 5'9"-6" - off memeory its a 56 or 58 but will need to check . I did have an M900 groupset spare that I was going to consider for my DBR, however it has STis which is a BIG part of the M900 groupo and sadly with me wanting to use the X-Lite chicken Stix levers, it would have been a waste not using the STIs
