Swallows Return?

They are hard to miss.

Thing is, very few people look up in the air.

Someone came up and asked me about the Ospreys and where could they see them, I pointed up in the air at the pair I was watching.

Red Kites are all over the place now, plenty to be seen over the Black Isle.

I am waiting to see the Sea Eagle swooping on a dolphin calf.

Spent two hours today tracking otters along the estuary.

This is a great time of year.

You mention Red Kites, i see them quite regulary along the "M4 corridor" Swindon/Hungerford area..apparantley they like a bit of road kill

Ernie ;)

good to see this thread again! i now have a horrible indoor job so dont get to see many birds or any wildlife, anther reason to try to find an outdoor job.
have seen a few housemartins as the last two days have been off for Easter.

No sign of our House Martins yet. Noticed that the Starlings are feeding on insects 'on the wing' so plenty of food around for them.

We've got starlings nesting in our roof above the bathroom. I hear the chicks squawking when the parents come with food, except one who squawks constantly... rather annoying and also foolish as he's giving away the nest.

Swallows arrived in Pickering in mid April, the House Martins arrived two weeks ago and are already nest building and the Swifts arrived at the back end of last week. Full house :p

I saw my first Swift this week and now they are back in force [Skipton], they either nest on mine or next doors house but we can never see where they get in as the roofs are so high. It's a real privilege seeing them we also had House Martins every year on Mum and Dad's house and then about five years ago they just stopped and never came back. First Swallow was 10 April on the roof of Airton Quaker Meeting House.

First sighting of our House Martins this morning. Where we are is obviously a nesting area so they arrive here late. Good to see, and hear, the little fellas again.
