Stumpjumper help

Hi, I just picked this up on ebay. The seller had it listed as a 91, I put in a low bid and ended up winning it a few days later. Upon closer inspection, I don't think it's a 91. It's a 1 1/8 threadless headtube. Any idea what year this actually is? Still a Tange Prestige tubeset? Im going to get it a fresh powdercoat, where can I pick up some accurate decals?

Certainly not a '91, probably more 95/6 but more knowledgable minds will be along shortly.......pm gill for transfers too. Great frames though, they have a really lively and honest ride quality. I've got all materials and frame styles covered in my collection and my stumpy is still probably my best riding bike.......the dd fork is just about perfect, and perfectly matched to the feel and proportions of the frame......enjoy!....

Hi,

If I remember well it is a 1995 stumpjumper because it was my race bike in on those days. I do not know if the same blue color was also proposed on 1996.
It was the first year that the rigid frames was design to accept a front suspension keeping the same geometry.
May be other RB members can confirm it (or not)

Fairly certain it is a '95 - that was the year that the olive green with grey umma gumma was the other colourway was available and we had both in the shop. Was originally LX with XT rear mech.

should be stamped either on the inside of the dropout or underside of the botom bracket, whats the stamp?

You got a really nice bike

I owned a 91 or 92 Stumpjumper FS (Future Shock) and it was suspension corrected. If I recall correctly the bike came in silver with the POS suspension fork or metallic pink with a rigid fork. Never liked the bike for off roading - wished I'd bought a Kona or Rocky Mountain. IMHO Stumpy's of that era weren't designed for Vancouver riding conditions. It did make a decent touring / commuting rig however. If I still had it I'd try a drop bar fully rigid build on it for shits and giggles.
