Stumpjumper Comp year? What have I bought?

Can anyone tell me what year this fame is? It was an impulse buy off of ebay, 98 cents + shipping, what can I say!

They look like 88 graphics and I think chainstay ubrakes were only 88/89 on that level of spesh, I'd buy that for a dollar too.

Looks similar to Jamie Dyers and thats 88.
By the way what lugs are being referred to as a identifying feature.
Stumpjumpers never had lugged frames, some have rack eyelets on the seatstays and some don't and even that is not a definite identity feature :?

I remember lusting after one of those in 'Evens' and it was 1988. never did buy. brought a Muddy Fox Explorer instead :|

Thanks guys!! I knew you would know! Looks like '88 is the general consensus.

I had bookmarked it to see what it went for and just happened to check it about 5 minutes before it ended. Couldn't believe there were no bids so I threw in a last minute bid and it ended with not one other bid!! :shock: :shock: So what's wrong with it? LOL There were almost 700 lookers by the page count? :?

Now, it needs a U-brake, right? Do I need to look for a particular one or will a BMX type work on this frame? I suspect it probably had an XT on it originally, to match the crankset. Never had a U-brake before.

Any idea of the seatpost size?
