Silverfish 1987 Mountain Klein

I love a roller cam brake. šŸ˜

They always look like they're going to work really well... and so much more handsome than a u brake.

And any double U is far preferable to the u/canti combo, which just leaves a question mark hanging over the whole braking systemšŸ¤”

I love the caliper cam brakes too, but don't use any meselfšŸ˜‰

Unsure as to whether this guy still has or makes any decals but try sending him a message.
Who knows someone else may help also.. keep us informed who offers you the best option.

Depening on the setup even Charlie Cunningham himself as the inventor of the modern day cam-brakes (thats late 70s speaking)
was putting a cantilever on the front. Ok on his own MTBs he alsways had double cams but his wife when she got into racing was aided by only Rollercams in the rear. For his Exploration big wheel bikes of the 80s he also preferred that combo...

That is a lovely one šŸ˜

I didnā€™t mean to hog your thread but it was just a paint suggestion. I should have explained but I was a little distracted watching the football last night!
I need to stop looking at your Aurora paint job
I absolutely love it - but had kinda decided to go with the cherry red. Now I'm second guessing myself

Maybe Aurora would be too early on an 87 bike?

There, sorted it out for myself :LOL::LOL:

You've got an amazing blank canvas. Guess you need to set your brief out. Is it to faithfully reproduce what was available in 87? Or it is to recreate something more individual based on your style/design preferences?

That Aurora paint job is amazing! šŸ˜

Just realised that finding a Shimano FD M700 Alpine front mech in 31.8 bottom pull isnā€™t going to be easy. Lots of 28.6 and Half Step ones about šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I guess I need to work out what front chainrings, rear derailleur and rear freewheel Iā€™m using now to double check whether I need Alpine or Half Step šŸ¤Æ

I thought this one was going to be easy šŸ¤£

Although if the bike is definitely an 87 - and I'm not convinced that it is - I still feel it might be earlier - but if it IS an 87 - I should probably be speccing Deore XT and not Deerhead!

Maybe I'm overthinking it and I stick with Deerhead  I've never done a restoration with Deerheadand that was Plan A so I shall stick with that. And I think I'm going to go with the red version. 17545356_702311589951129_2871271758087798356_o.jpeg 17554506_702311549951133_7508567557166137986_n.jpeg 17620427_702311663284455_1348400908255235243_o.jpeg 17620355_702311729951115_3874111611563489372_o.jpeg 17622001_702311749951113_8650999671898452640_o.jpeg
