Sorry but that is a 1993. I also know that for a very fact, because one day in summer 1993 my then best friend came with this bike brand new. From the local MTB dealer of our town. His parents were juwelers and he could simply grab into the cash register literally anytime he wanted to - and we were 13 years old! I was so mad and jealous at the same time - sportin my black/purple TREK 970 back then :-D I remember it was about 3.000 Deutschmarks and mine was like 879. I THINK he even had it upgraded with a full XTR m900 group set back then when he bought it- making it even WAY more expensive
Hi everyone, by searching for vintage Scott decals I found this Page/Thread. My story: I imported my Pan American directly from America in the spring of 1992.
I still ride the bike from time to time and apart from a few parts it is still in its original condition. The AT-2 handlebars were replaced (broke after a slow-motion rollover, I didn't get out of the XT pedals with the cups fast enough), then the pedals (converted to SPD) and the saddle from Vetta Gel to Selli Italia Trans-Am. The xtr crankset had a 24 t cog as the smallest sprocket, which cost me too much power over time and was replaced by an xt with a 22 t cog. An “alternative” at the time was the Scott American - painted aluminum frame and complete Deore LX equipment (my brother still owns it). Hope you enjoy the pics in the european catalogue of 1993 it is contained, buton the picture it has a siver stem. Some bikes have had a xtr-headset instead of the ritchey logic. As far as I know the frame of the Pan American was specially build for this bike; the Super-American and the American had an industrial frame from far-east (Taiwan? Tioga? - I don´t know).
Best greetings from the Mountains in Tirol!
