Show us your marins!

I’ve had this 94 Marin Muirwoods from new.
Last year (2023) I took part in the 50 mile route of the Cornish Alpine Cycle Challenge -- A mix of clay pit trails, single track paths and a few short road sections. Nothing to gnarly that you will loose rear mech on.

A great event for anyone with a retro MTB mixing it up with more modern fare and electrics.

Restoring something “special” for next years (2025) event ….

I picked this 93 Eldridge Grade up a while ago. I did an initial tidy up so I could get it up and moving. There was quite a lot of rust and a couple of missing parts including several spokes but overall pretty solid. There was one major problem, the dreaded stuck seat post. This was bugging me as the seat was not quite at my hight.

After a lot of research I decided drilling it out would be the route. Unfortunately the heat generated ruined a good chunk of the paintwork (should have sprayed water on to it to cool it down)

With the paintwork pretty ruined and as a big fan of the 90/91 I decided to have some fun. So paintwork complete, now to choose the decal colours. Any advice? I am thinking Black, White or magenta.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as I no longer have the bike but here is my 92 Team Issue. It was a skip find and this was it after I had cleaned it and after I had sold the Machine Tech levers to fund the M900 shifters/levers which eventually went on it. It had been adapted for disk brakes, was nickel plated and had XTR mechs, Machine Tech levers, MAG21s, Cook Bros purple cranks, Hope hubs, Hope disk brakes and Mavic ceramic coated rims. It had a fluted down tube.
