Re:

Hey all, newbie here!. Stumbled across this thread in the last couple of days. After a trawl around eBay in the local area recently, £42 later i became the proud owner of this...

Thats what hitting eBay after a few beers does for you!!! :D I think its a couple of years too new to be in this thread really but i figure if all the Marin fans are in here i'm in the right place for some info. Plans are to get it stripped down and powdercoated, service the shock and swingarm bearings whilst hopefully picking up some bargain bits for the build.

:)

Welcome to the forum, great plan too.

Thanks mate, been having a bit of a nose around the forum...totally in awe of Benandemu's build on the '99 Mount Vision Pro!
:)
PS Anyone able to roughly date the from i bought please?

Kind words - thank you. I'm glad it's inspired someone over than myself too.

Your frame is the 2002 monocoque pre quad link.
I actually have the same frame albeit a Mount Vision. In short, it's lighter, stronger, and it's stiffer, but not quite as pretty as its older brothers. I think the addition of the quad link for the year after made little difference on a small travel bike, and just added unnecessary weight to a lean XC machine.
The only trouble it will give you is the rear disc adapter as they're a ball ache to find. That particular model though has a source on eBay currently if you're quick.

It came with the rear disc mount mate, albeit slightly mullered, but i have someone on another forum who will copy it for me...just need to get a back wheel in and find out why they felt the need to alter it with a bloody big file. And i blame you, i bought that frame last week...i now find myself watching a complete Rift Zone thats local as well...not a classic Marin but if i keep my eye out then maybe, just maybe...
:D

My late 98 marin b17 frs God I loved this bike

Was watching one of those local on eBay a week or two ago (may have been a year or two newer), would of loved it but sadly lacked the funds to hit the buy it now button which someone else did after a few bids...

Hi all Marin boinger enthusiasts, I have a 97 (?) Mount vision frame for sale here:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=349193
However, due to the quite expensive postage from Portugal to UK, I'd be willing to split the frameset and sell any smaller bits separately (frame / swingarm / shock / seat post shims to 27.2, etc.).
