It’s frighteningly fast downhill. Like others here, I’ve a real soft spot for drop bars and big tyres

Mine is some sort of Frankensteins monster.... I was contemplating drop bars but gone carbon flat bar instead.

29er on 2.35, 1x12.

Gravel/Winter bike used from pretty much now until March on my weeknight rides and the occasional long distance weekend ride.

It's rapid and since I put the carbon forks on its turned into a bit of a weapon.

I've just finished building a second gravel-ish bike for winter. Although perhaps it may be more of a touring bike with 35mm tyres and full mudguards. It needs some tweaks, the bar tape was a rush job and I think the stem is too long. It's really comfortable and smooth to ride and I like it but no doubt I'll be making changes

I've posted this elsewhere but here's my Kona Jake with V-brakes and Maxxis Rambler 40mm tyres. I'm still fiddling with the drivetrain -- think it will end up as 1 x 10.

I think all the rain we've had has diluted the gravel somewhat, it's gone all squishy!

Lol, no - I'd not noticed that oddness in the perspective before I posted it. I'm sure you've given a marketing department somewhere an idea now though!

Having quickly read all 17 pages, I've now got it.....

Gravel bike = 1990s Raleigh pioneer with left over drop bars on.

Cool. Think i might need one.

Or could i just fit drops to my hybrid? Thats got knobbly 40mm tyres, is crappy aluminium and 700c wheels....

Or even better, pretend i had drops, then took them off in favour of something more useful.

You could also pretend you fitted a couple of extra chainrings for better chainline and economy, and took off the discs because they didn't stop squealing
