Show us your Kuwahara

Hi guys!. I write you from Spain. This is my Kuwahara Omega full Deore XT. I found on this website the Kuwahara catalogues from 90 to 92 but cannot find the Omega model. Do you know what year is It?. I'll post better pictures Some other time IMG-20240802-WA0005.jpg IMG-20240802-WA0006.jpg IMG-20240802-WA0008.jpg

To my understanding there had been quite some regional models from Kuwahara, often influenced by the bigger retailers like Villiger in central Europe.
The catalogs in the Archive are the ones from Villiger.
So also the 1988-1993 catalogs on this page https://kuwahara-family.brieger.blog/kuwahara-kataloge/

Yours is quite different.
But there are other similar Kuwahara Bikes like yours. e.g. this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/174314950279

It seems that for Spain they had a different portfolio, maybe managed directly from Kuwahara out of Osaka and not via a central distributor like Villiger?
This test is from the spanish Bicisport Guia 1990 buyers guide
Kuwahara Shastra aus Bicisport Guia 1990.jpg
and the full portfolio, with model names completely different to what was sold in other EU countries.

There is no Omega mentioned, just your's seem to be a bit older (do i recognize a XT 730 with 6speed thumb shifter?)

Thanks for the info!!!.

My friend bought it brand new and he thinks it was back in '91 but maybe was a year or two older, who knows!! ;), the rear brake goes under the swingarm (so I guess it should be older than '90). Yes, it seems a XT730 and all the rest is also XT (rear and front derrailleur, hubs, brakes, shifters even the steering bearings).

based on the Shimano components it should be than rather a 1988 or 89 model year, as u-brake below the chain stays and 6-speed XT is used.
If you want to know this exactly, check the Type names of the Shimano components but there are also so-called date codes, a bit hidden, but on allmost all Shimano parts, those provide year and month of production
http://www.vintage-trek.com/component_dates.htmStill maybe it was just at the dealer and sold in 1991 to your friend.

Thanks again Joglo!.

I don't "need" to know, just curious about the year and model since I didn't find any info regarding the "Omega" model.

@Warrior that must be 1988 absolute latest as you have 6 speed XT which stopped in 1988 as in 1989 it became Deore XTll with 7 speed and 2 finger brake levers only.

Love the stem with bottle cage mounts. Well, that's all I can assume what the threaded inserts on the stem are for...

Sadly looks a bit big to be a rider for you. Certainly has an 80s vibe about it, and always amazing to see many of these old bike surface in great condition with most of their original components!
