Or could i just fit drops to my hybrid? Thats got knobbly 40mm tyres, is crappy aluminium and 700c wheels....🤔

Or even better, pretend i had drops, then took them off in favour of something more useful.🤣

You could also pretend you fitted a couple of extra chainrings for better chainline and economy, and took off the discs because they didn't stop squealing😉

My latest bike, modern as it is. A Fuji Jari 2.1 gravel bike. Nice smooth ride. Love the low pressure big tyres. 😍

Just read through all 17 pages, and there's some fun bikes on here.
I've got a couple of 'Gravel Contraptions' converted from MTB frames.

Here's one of them my On One Scandal gravel build.
It's really just an MTB with drop bars and low tread tyres that roll fast.

On One Scandal Frame
RS Recon - still toying with the idea of a rigid carbon fork
Sonder Bomber Flared Gravel Bars
GRX rear mech with Tiagra Shifters/Brake Levers.
Maxxis Crossmark II Tyres.

I built this up as a winter bike last year and messed around with a few handle bar set ups before settling on the Sonder.
They are great for riding on the hoods and in the drops, and really great on rough downhill stuff in the drops due to the wide flare.
I found other regular drops rather terrifying in this scenario !! IMG_6025.jpeg

I'm calling this my gravel bike
My definition is either a road going mtb
Or a mountain going road bike.
Depending on which camp you hail from
This has 52 tooth triple crank which ups it's top speed markedly also the obligatory narrow tyres. Otherwise it's a 29er mtb.

The gearing is 52 38 26 front and 12 to 34 rear with alot of chain so you can't run little / little it shifts with xtr 970 3x9.
The crank is a square taper 3x10 with 0.5mm shim washers to adapt it to the 1.2mm wider 3x9 chain.
Oh that can't work!. It works just fine! though the frame clearance took a few bb's to get right. I like the maximum spread of gears possible because I'm old now. The 52 tooth to 12 tooth is pure road
and makes for proper progress on the flat.

I'v done Coed y Brenin on this set up with schwalbe thunder burt tyres but with the big ring dropped to 48 teeth.
Romped the lot. But didn't attempt the beast tho. Outpaced E bikes on the flat and straighter fire road descents.

Mine is some sort of Frankensteins monster.... I was contemplating drop bars but gone carbon flat bar instead.

29er on 2.35, 1x12.

Gravel/Winter bike used from pretty much now until March on my weeknight rides and the occasional long distance weekend ride.

It's rapid and since I put the carbon forks on its turned into a bit of a weapon.
Hi check out my charge cooker just added to this thread. Basically same silhouette as your bike
