Great plan, you will have something to tow the Landy home when it breaks down!

I was thinking you will have something to drive when the Pajero rots away

carl, you can polish up those plastic headlights which will really lift the front of that car

Mothers do a kit that contains small wet and dry coated foam pads in 6 varying grades, a fancy mop for a hand held drill and a polishing compound

just mask off the paint and give it a go!

i used it on my S6, there was a lot of oxidisation and discolouration, this is how they look now! 8)

Or use the cheapskates version - bit of autoglym metal polish and a clean cloth - worked a treat on my 200K plus Focus. YMMV

Re:

After the Stilo's Big/Small/Middle ends have gone, its Mercedes time.

I was sick of sad looking early 21st century cars with somber interiors and mediocre drive and had enough budget for something German again. A gorgeous W124 250D was sold from under me. Maybe a good thing as they are frugal but slooooowww.

A max bid on ebay netted a tidy W210 300TD. Not as economic as a 220 or 320 CDI but supposedly more reliable. Comedy mercedes electrical issues sorted. Needs a new boot locking mechanism. Have been getting 47 - 49 mpg driving like a, well, careful driver who has to drive for a living and gets paid a salary and 26p per mile. Otherwise its about 10mpg per gallon less than the Stilo.

6 cylinders of super smooth diesel. Only tyre noise intrudes, the engine is barely noticeable unless you hit the button under the accelerator, then all 177 horses and some 340 foot pound of torque make themselves known.

It has some surprises, 4x airbags, rain sensing wipers, electrically folding mirrors, ASR etc. Just have to keep an eye on the front spring perches!

The Merc looks good, miss driving my old ones. I cant remember what cars I posted earlier in this thread, but I'm 'nearly' classed as a hoarder. So a few more of the collection...

Just drove my A6 to the Swiss and Italian border for some biking and I must say it is an absolute joy to drive! So smooth and silent...
