The only 700c adapter I knew was the Mavic one with another set of canti bosses.
That was my first option, but It was worse than a tooth pain; then, a cheap "long" V brakes (poor quality) and finally those pad "risers"; they are cheap, light and can use'em on your favourite V's (works better with Avid than Shimano), also, as the pads are higher mounted, the feel on the brake levers is quite good.
 
A 1997 Trek Multitrack 730, called Trekking because it was the European version with useful commuter stuff like mudguards or lights. All original except for the tires, as far as I know. Bought it 2 months ago from a guy that was selling it, without tires and tubes, as a "parts donor" so I thought there was something wrong with the frame, but the bike is in top condition! Now used daily to catch the train to work.

It's never a race to see who gets it cheaper. But a low price definitely helps to leave the bike parked in the station every morning without too much thought... They will still have to go through my Abus Granit-X lock though, worth 10 times the price of the bike! :)

My sister has exactly that same Giant, but with a step-through frame. Quite light considering it has low range components...
 
I just got lucky with this one. The guy did not mention brand or model in his add, for him it was just an old hybrid. People have already found out the old Multitracks have nice steel and take 42mm tires so everyone is doing gravel conversions.

Specialized Crossroads also fetch crazy prices, even if they always had modest components and frames.

To be honest, I've put mine for sale locally. Don't want to sell it, but if someone is willing to pay, it's not that I'm short on bikes... I'll keep riding it on the meantime.

I do it with most of my bikes, put a price I would not mind giving the bike away, while I keep enjoying it.
