great find BTW!

get to work VB and lets see whats gone in to that frame :)
Near as I can make out it's a full 1998/9 Spesh DH rear end. The former owner just confirmed to me the bearing upgrade was a bespoke job done by a bike shop. Will post pics in the bearing upgrade thread tonight.

Re: 2005 M4 - any interest?

My son's Stumpy FSR Pro M4 frame & a few bits has just gone on ebay. Think it dates from '05, probably the final year with provision for rear V brake. Do you guys rate these or is it too recent?

Re:

Still a few things to sort out properly, new pedals and bars top of the list and I'll have to get a firm grip on the boys and cut the steerer on the Super Ts at some point. I'll see how the XT clutch mech goes with keeping the chain on but for now two rings up front. Much lighter, stiffer and slacker than my old one. Have a Fox Float I might bung on to see how I like it but for now coil.

Pictured below with the GF Cake, in all its noodly glory.

Re:

Having recently purchased an FSR Elite, I found this site and of course had to join and then worried myself reading this thread...

It was mentioned that too much travel can damage the headstock and would 180mm be too much as have just ordered a set of inverted front forks with 180mm travel and have at the rear a BETD pivot arm and a Fox Float RP2 rear shock...

Mainly used to go out nearly every Sunday to do between 10-30 miles on various terrain to keep fit ready for Car Race Season...

Will try and put up some pics soon as now addicted to this bike...

Thanks, Rob

Just a couple of pics so far, still waiting for further stuff to turn up..

the geometry on that is giving me a twitch!
how does it ride with that crazy amount of BB clearance and that runway of a stem??!!!
(not meaning to offend here of course! - it could be the angle of the picture to be fair...)

EDIT - BTW Elites are my fave (i have one you know ;) )

Re:

Understand, but at 6'2" Tall and 15 Stone (but hoping to lose at least another 1/2 stone before race season starts), it does tend to lower a touch when I get on it...

Decided to go for the 190mm rear shock having spoken to BETD and that is how it is set up and will see when the Inverted Front suspension turns up as to how it will look... Does turn in faster with the difference in rake, which was used to when riding motorcycles, but then a slight push on the bars in the opposite direction does help too...

May revert to a 165mm rear shock sometime, but the original is still in the pivot I took off as someone had cross threaded the bolt and it is stuck in and the bushes are worn too, hence why I replaced it as Specialized could not supply a replacement...

Don't mind criticism as this is my first venture in to bicycles as have built many race motor bikes and cars and have a degree in Motorsport Engineering and will always play with Camber, Caster, Trail etc and see how it feels and handles...
