Show us yer FSR's

think i should upload a semi decent shot of my 99 FSR Elite...been a while and its changed a fair bit. not so 99 anymore though.....set up as it is in pic (ridden at Big Dog this year):

2x9 setup
deore xt m770 groupset
race face BB
deore xt 4 pots front and rear (203/160) no problems stopping at all....
easton bars
CK ano-blue headset
100mm bombers
alex rims/novatec hubs
conti x-king (f) race king (r)
fox RPL air can
shark fin disc adapter
needle/cartridge bearing upgrade on rear linkages - stiff and smooth
making moves to get more travel up front, but it rides well how its currently set up :)

Was in my former LBS (moved away) today and noticed they had a brand new FSR exactly the same as yours up on the wall. Funky build, single ring up front with a chain guide and Showa double crowns forks. Looked like it hadn't been even touched in 10 years. Almost creamed my daks, wants 200ish for the whole bike. Tempted, tempted. Also found some NOS 2001 Super T pros (150mm) 20mm axle. Looked at me like I was mad for wanting them. Offered him 105 and he accepted pending avaialability of seals. These ones

I WILL build the slayeringest FSR ever!!!

fixed that for you
Twain my friend you lit a fire under my rear end, a slow burning one to be sure but as of today I am the proud new owner of this:

dont bother with front mech unless you get a BB mounted one. - PITA otherwise ;)
i've just finished putting my 1x10 bits on my 'now not so retro FSR ELITE'.
Zee/SLX/Hope/Raceface combi which im yet to test out.....
pics and an opinions will follow as soon as i can get it all setup

Yeah I quite like the sound of 1x10, narrow/wide ring and a clutch rear mech.
Anyway another pic, this is the same bike that was built up at my lbs for years that was shown earlier in the thread. Went in today and it was nowhere to be seen and my heart sank but he had stripped it down to frame and Showa forks and had it on the wall next to 3 new early 2000 Spesh frames. OK says I "sold" and it was, the Monsters too. He actually said to me 3 times are you really sure you want to buy all this! I'm fairly sure this frame is a '98 but anyone who can say for sure let me know.
Take a look at these Showa double crowns, rare as hell. Dust seals are cracked but so far they still hold air and oil. Very tempted to keep them, we'll see how much the nos Monsters go for. Today was a good day.

those Bombers!
thats a tidy frame mate - get it built and thrash it! not like me, i take 2 years+ to build it and ride it a few times, cleaning the crap out of it every time!

Edit: and changing its setup every 2 months in the mean time....

Not like me then....

Do I take it from that pic with the coil over shock, that I could simply replace my knackered air shock with a coil over as long as the eye to eye was the same, or isn't it that simple....??

Re:

In principal yes. Although I had to invert mine and add a gonzo valve as the linkage obviously wasn't designed with air shocks in mind! Eye to eye, aye! 165mm will see to it :)

forgot about this thread, really need to sort out photos of mine now its nearly finished.

i am on the look out for a bigger frame, something around the 1999-2000 era, so if any one has a medium or large for elite then please PM me

Re:

Wasn't really satisfied with the new FSR as it was an older style with no bearing just bushes. Unsatisafactory. So a few weeks trawling the local auctions saw this land on my doorstep.

Max backbone with full needle bearing upgrade and a shark fin. Boom! Satisfactory. And it's a medium not a small as the seller said. I will update Twain's FSR bearing thread later but I have a feeling this is all bespoke. I do love me a well-modded FSR.

quest que cest le linkage?
that doesnt look like any linkage Risse/BETD have done before....???
any markings on it?

EDIT: that linkage looks to be an original FSR DH linkage - lots of forum threads showing up images that look to be a stock component that came with the 99 FSR DH model....might be more to look into that! cracking find if so!

great find BTW!
i considered splitting my FSR recently ( ) but have decided to dismantle for now and build up my other 2 builds while the winter sets in :) come summer, i'd massivley regret selling my frame off, so i'll wrap it up for winter now i've finally settled on the 1x10 set up its got - im very happy with that indeed :)

get to work VB and lets see whats gone in to that frame :)
