Shimano 7 speed V-brake combo shifters

Hi

I'm looking for some older style Shimano 7 speed V-brake combo shifters for my sons bike which currently has gripshift gears. He is only 9 years old but I think the smaller retro type shifters will be okay for his smaller hands.

Thanks!

I think you might struggle to find 7sp with V brake levers as I think 8sp preceded Vs...

I do happen to have some XT V brake levers and DX 7sp(with 'hidden' 8th click) thumbshifters that would work together if they might be of use?

also have some 7sp STIs but the combo levers are for cantilever brakes

Re:

7 speed Sti's were all for Canti' and would be very "grabby" with V brakes, but I would just ask you the question, why not just use Canti's?
I much prefer Canti's to V brakes, lighter, better clearance and better modulation. They also look way better IMHO. Granted maybe a bit more fiddly to set up initially, but a knack that's soon mastered.

Re:

Had this same problem when I converted my old commuter Marin Team over to V's; eventually I just went for the widely available ST-EF51 levers - nothing special but they've been hammered in all weathers for over two years now and in typical Shimano style, remain faultless. I paid less than £20 for the pair. Cheers!
