Shimano 600 Brake Caliper Cable Adjusters 6 mm Flat Sided anyone?

Hello RB's

I bought a pair of very nice Shimano 600 brake calipers for a very nice price...but they were missing the cable adjusters.

I had not realised you need M6 Flats as described in the title of the post...drats.

I know dia compe also made them but I can not find a pair anywhere.

Any ideas where I can obtain them please?

Many thanks 😀

Funny enough or not those are the ones I bought off eBay and realised that if I wanted to make them work I would have to remove some of the thread.

But would that work as I thought it may weaken them? Because unlike the one in the picture there would be no support?

Ta for the answer...some people go out on new year's eve. I polish my forks 😁

I'll look in our brake adjusters drawer to see if there are any there - we save adjusters when calipers or dérailleurs go off to the scrap.

But as regards filing - I've done plenty - the forces are primarily compressive, and if the adjuster is snugged down, they're not even being carried by the threads anyway, rather straight through the collar.

An alternative is to drill out the caliper - superior in some situations.

I've seen brake adjuster threads fail, but it's rare - far more common a rider has the barrel too far out, catches the cable and bends or snaps it.

But of course with any modification to safety equipment, get a second opinion if you're not sure, and try it out first, then monitor it over time.

There are plenty of risks in cycling already, we don't need to add to them
🤞

I always thought an empty wallet was safety equipment.
I always carry one when out riding, especially with friends😉

They can wear the flouro-tabards of the highway pondlife, i will choose builders trousers and a Western shirt

Great information bws 😀. Thanks for looking in your draw, that draw of yours appears to have a lot of bits'n'bobs 😁.

Sorry for the late reply...

I have now bought a Raleigh Road Ace frame c.1987 after telling myself no more frames!!! Oh well it will keep me busy.

Ta everyone...

One more question....late 80's Shimano 105 rear derailleur (index/friction) or Suntour VX rear derailleur (power shift?/friction).

Any preferences anyone to which you would choose for my RRA?

Thank you...
