Shifting Preference

Shimano push pull for me every time (the new dual release ones are great as are the ones from 1-2 years ago (just before dual release) that could release more than one gear at a time.

Also happy to use gripshift in hte winter times (i wear gloves that are silly thick and its hard to use triggers) and the sram push push are good as well (X9 and X0)

Never had anything but thumbshifters...there again I bought my last mtb back in 1994...

One of the things I liked about thumbies, and bearing in mind I used to cycle everywhere, so plenty of on-road usage, too - was when you were riding and it was really cold, and you weren't truly prepared in the hand department, you could sorta keep your hand scrunched up tight sort of in a fist most of the time to keep the heat in, and sort of nudge the shifter to and fro to change gear.

For the RETRO or old you gotta go with the thumb shifters. It all depends on the bike and how the rider imagines it. I will be running PRECISION BILLET or I think it is PROSHIFT grip shifters. My vote for thumbies. But, I like em all.

Love my SRAM X.O. gripshift.
Gone back to Shimano for the Pace re-build with M96? dual control & looking forward to trying them out.
