Help!

I have just changed the forks on my RTS, no problem. Put the DX V's on, no problem. Lined the pads up, no problem.

Can I get the left arm to move, can I heck as like! (thats the left arm when sat on the bike ;) ) The brakes work, but the left arm hardly moves, its the right thats doing all the work :?

Any ideas, advice and the like chaps?

right arm is too far .

shorten the cable and use the spring tension screw to adjust the arms .

to make pads come closer to the rim , unscrew .
that should push your right arm closer to the rim , and left arm away from it .

Maybe you need to adjust the springs behind the v-brakes, most forks have a couple holes to put the springs in, try a different hole, secondly try the adjust the screw on side of v-brakes which it move closer to rim or away from it.

I do think that's normal having one arm moving slighty more than the other arm when putting the brakes on, if you do it in slow motion when putting the brakes on, one arm will start move first before the other arm start moving, it's just the setting of all v-brakes with the cable when pulling.

Good luck you get there in the end

If you can't get the adjustment you need with the spring tension screw, then whip one side off & use the spring adjuster holes on the brake boss to increase/decrease the spring tension.

Thanks guys, I'll have another play tonight.

I only have 1 hole to put the spring into on the Mag21's, so am I right in assuming I'll have to do all the fine adjusting with the small screw?

I shouldnt need to alter the overall cable length, should I?

Cable length seems ok to me??

I have to say I'm somewhat less precise when it comes to adjusting the spring tension on my DXs. Release spring, bend it a bit, re-engage spring. Probably a big no-no but it works fine for me...
