DX has an 8th click too.

As for conversion to 9 speed, you'd never be able to get the plate accurate enough for the mechanism to work right, I'd wager...at least not by hand. Maybe if you had the worlds smallest water-jet...maybe.

Dura Ace 9spd bar-cons and Paul Thumbies...problem solved.

Nice find!! I was searching for something like this maybe 2 months ago and couldnt find nowt. Excellent. Oh, and my first pair of shifters exage mountain i did the same as this guy and forced the top cap off before realising there was a screw! I was young

mmm...as Shimano reuse their designs, I wonder if deep inside a 9s Dura-Ace barcon there is the same little bit as in a thumbie.. :?
