Seen this yet...? New Jones!

The concept and design are the important things - as long as a bike is specified correctly any competent manufacturer can put it together properly.

I don't think Julien McDonald still knits his own stuff in a room out the back and much of Damien Hirst's work is done by other craftsmen, but you still pay for their names. Their bikes would probably be rubbish though. ;)

Lol,

I am locked in a workshop in the remote Highlands pumping out Hirst's.

:)

Then Merlin pulled the plug, no-one else in the US would/could take the job on presenting another choice - offshore or nothing.

Offshore?

 reminds me of the simpsons episode

So did Van Gough paint all his own paintings? Did HG Wells write his own books or did they have someone else produce their art while they sat back and took all the praise? If someone else makes it should it really have a persons name on the frame? But then I'm still gutted that FTW no longer welds Yetis up and that they're now made in.........

If Van Gogh had had the same subject repeatedly painted after his original, and with his scrutiny of the output, I see no reason why they should not carry his name.

There are plenty of artists who do the same.

It is a brand, if you like, not a claim of individual construction.

Norman Forster does not install his buildings, does that mean they are not Norman Fosters?

This is the case in many areas of engineering and design.

Jones has conceived a bike; it is a Jones. It would remain a Jones were someone to copy it, and it does if the author himself chooses to have it made rather than make it himself.

Just my two cents.

And if its a Jones selling for $3800 and made overseas in a country that exploits its labor then it is a @&$*# con job...so back to the question.

Are they made overseas or not? Somebody alluded to it and then let it hang out there like laundry...lets back up that statement and confirm it or take it down.

Where are they made today?

As I was resting after a leisurely ride, wearing my Nike trainers and Levi jeans, drinking a refreshing Coke and looking at the latest Retrobike comments on my ipad, I thought how disgusting that some bike manufacturers charge such high prices for bikes made with cheap/exploited overseas labour. I'll never buy one.

So Capitalism stinks?

On that basis I better make sure I don't buy any goods made in USA, to ensure I am not propping up such a scheme.

Please.

You know damn well what I'm talking about. Capitalism and ethical business are not mutually exclusive, even in the states. Charging 3800 bucks for an asian sourced frame is blatant, unethical, shady greed.

Back to the question. Anyone actually know where Jones gets these things from?...or are we just going to let that earlier unsupported comment float around on the internet for all time? :?
