Seen this yet...? New Jones!

You don't have to look far to find the facts, they are being made in Taiwan.

Which for most on this site may well be 'overseas'; but this is an international site so the expression is rather ambiguous and irrelevant.

Globally, Capitalism relies on growth, and historically that need has overridden ethical concerns; especially in the areas of workers' rights, systematic corruption and potential damage to the environment.

Now where is the beating heart of Capitalism again?

If Van Gogh had had the same subject repeatedly painted after his original, and with his scrutiny of the output, I see no reason why they should not carry his name.

There are plenty of artists who do the same.

It is a brand, if you like, not a claim of individual construction.

Norman Forster does not install his buildings, does that mean they are not Norman Fosters?

This is the case in many areas of engineering and design.

Jones has conceived a bike; it is a Jones. It would remain a Jones were someone to copy it, and it does if the author himself chooses to have it made rather than make it himself.

Just my two cents.
If Jones is happy to take the blame for it, It's very noble of him! :p

Made in Taiwan? I believe Taiwan has a higher standard of living than the UK...

:) I know I'm missing the point, but these bike's are just pig ugly, why would you want to ride something that looks like a raleigh shopper even if it does ride great!.

:)

Iv'e put my foot in it again, but I just don't like them.

..think I've got something stuck in my throat...PACE

Think it's called business sence thesedays...

I really can't see what the fuss is about. Jeff wants to get his frames made. No-one in the US will make them. He finds a factory to make them which happens to be in another country. Given the work that goes into them (a lot more than any diamond frame, and that's before you start on the fork) and the fact that I assume Jeff's aiming to make a living, $3,800 doesn't seem at all unreasonable - I doubt the factory can turn those things out for pence.

Steel diamond frame and fork for $750 looks even more reasonable. SHOCK NEWS - price of buying things reflects price it costs to make them :)
