Seatpost size for 1995? Stumpjumper?

Can somebody tell me what size seatpost a 1995 Stumpjumper takes? I'm pretty sure it's a 1995. The serial # starts with 94, it's a dark purplish color. (looks a lot more purple than the pic shows) The seller said it was a 31.6 but that's too large and I've got a 29.2 that's too small, so it's somewhere in between. I'm going to have to buy one and want to make sure it's the right size. Thanks!!!! :)

Thanks! I would have sworn that I looked at bikepedia and there wasn't a size listed but there it is! :D

Now I just hope it is a 1995. Everything I have seen describes the color as blue for 95, this is distinctly purple even though it looks blue in the above picture (from the seller, I haven't taken any yet).

yeah, a shim would prob work fine bud.
I have found that shimming a post of 27.2 (its the most common size for posts) up to your size will prob be easiest option, just did the same for my Balance ;)

My 95 Stumpy FSR is 29.2, i've found that's not a common size, could the seat tube have been machined out to fit a more common 30mm ?

Sorry, typed the above before reading the whole thread  , seems strange they'd use a smaller seattube on the full susser than the rigid :? , i agree with the shim though (if you cant find the right size post) , if you cant buy a new shim off the shelf it'll be an easy thing for a local machine/engineering shop to fabricate.

I thought it was 30.9....but don't quote me ;)
The aluminium ones were 30.9mm, but 30.4 is right for steel. It's a pig of a size to find nice posts in, but the Ritchey-style KAlloy ones work well enough, and don't cost the earth.

seatpost

30.4 for the post and that is definately a 95 as I have the same. I think Kaisers was that colour as well before he painted it.
I will have a dig round as I have a couple of old posts lying about and see if I have one in that size.

Pretty sure the FSR is 29.4 rather than 29.2 but happy to be corrected
