Scott USA 1993 Pro Racing

This bike has always been on top of my list. I saw it for the first time back in the early nineties (here in Houffalize when the Grundig Cup circus landed) and it's been one of my favourites ever since.

So when last week a frameset popped up on Ebay (in my size and with some blemishes - one I can ride in other words), I made the seller an offer -I thought he would refuse- but he didn't.

So this arrived this Tuesday.

I always loved the contrast between the black and neon yellow (and the skinny look of rigid forks) so I decided to build it as I had in my memory.

I buy everything between 17 and 19" but mostly ride the ones that are closer to 19. ;-)

Finding an original SRP fork will be hard so for the time I will use one of my spares (a Tange Big fork that came from my brothers 1993 Trek 970) that I will have resprayed in neon yellow.

Last year I built myself a Panasonic Mc Pro with XTR M900, but when I found out the frame was from 1991 (and not 1993 as I thought), I took off the XTR and replaced it with an XT. Good thing as it means I still have an XTR on my attic.

Today this arrived. Not sure if I will use it as the bike might end up too "fluorinated".

I've had Team Racing XT in the past - probably the most nimble and responsive steel mtb I've had to date.

Good to know. I have a 1995 Team Racing frame in the attic waiting to be built.

As close to the catalogue specifications as possible. But I'm not about to spend tons on a 27,0 XTR seatpost, nor on era correct Megabite Z Max tires. Right now I will use what I've got in the spares and/or what I can get for little money.

Edit: I already have quite some nice parts to make it a catalogue build: XTR groupset, Mavic 231 rims (wheels to be relaced), Tioga headset, Scott AT2 bars, original stem, Vetta SL saddle, M737 pedals,...
