Did Salsa ever do a steel Jellybean re-issue?

I emailed Salsa a few months ago because I wanted an Al La Carte and it was all sold out [the root beer colour one] I was asking about a 2010 model and when it would be available, colour etc..

I pointed the Breezer re issues out to them and asked them what they planned.

They told me that they had a real problem with the new CEN standard and it was turning their steel frame plans into a 'ship anchor' [their words]

I suggested a jellybean re issue to them and they said it would be very cool to do that for sure. So i really got my hopes up!

I guess they lost the CEN battle and went for an outsourced Ti frame instead.

I'd love to see them have the bottle to offer the Ti frame in a jelly bean paint job

Shame they never got round to doing one, the steel jellybean was one of the bikes to own BITD especially after endorsement from the late, great JMC.

can't really see the appeal in this....like most other Ti frames on the market but with a fancy headbadge.

Kinda agree with Neil on this, You'd be hard pushed to distinguish it from any of the other lynskey fab'd frames. Still if you were gonna have one why not this one with a tie to some retro roots.

If you were going to have a ti frame made ..... Wouldn't you go to the best?
There is stuff manufactured by Lynskey floating around in space as we speak.
I deal with Lynskey everyday taking care of stuff in the UK and fully understand why manufacturers trust Mark and David with their designs.

I saw one of the ti Salsas at the LBS the other day. Very nice work. A local frame builder who used to work for Grove stopped by and gave the craftsmanship a thumbs up.

I think they were priced at $1,800, which is pretty good for a U.S. made ti frame with the Salsa/Lynskey pedigree.

I've got one of the A La Carte Ti frames as a new race bike for 2010, it should be here next week. The frames landed at Salsa in the US on Friday. It's replacing a 2004 Titus HCR - that's got to almost qualify as a Retrobike by now!!

The Salsa UK Team will be at all rounds of the BMBS, Mayhem and SITS if you want to come and have a look at the new frames.

okay. maybe i dont see the point, but, it just looks like lynskey?

lynskey have their 'look', and i quite like it, but then why would you go and buy one only to have them put somebody elses logo on it?

its a bit like somebody liking the look of a thomson seatpost, stripping the anodising off, re coating it and getting 'salsa' laser etched on it?

is it light? Is the cat yours? Thats a very long seat pin. Do you get dizzy from the air being thinner from being so high up?

Looks nice but you still can't beat the jelly bean, I had one till some scrote took from the back of the car, was well peeved as i'd given it a nice individual spec when I bought it :cry: :cry:
