RIP Jez Avery

I saw Steve Peats Instagram post and feared the worst. Jez was an inspiration in my teen years, and the cause of many a mangled shin as I tried (and failed) to emulate his tricks.

Off to watch his jump session in Dirt, which started my unhealthy interest in vectored proflexes.

So an accident rather than the pre mentioned method.

I actually feel a bit better if that’s the case in a strange way. Obviously I don’t want to sound insensitive, but at least his own demons didn’t cause it.
Unfortunately, like the obituaries that are on the are A.I. generated on Facebook, that's not true. I've known Jez for just over 30yrs from the late bmx days in Sunderland to his heydays in mtb and onwards. The news was out in his inner circle of friends and family early on and as mentioned in the linked article from STW, his 'demons' finally got the better of him unfortunately.
