For Sale Ridley X ride ( c to top 55 cm )plus winter plus tyres WITHDRAWN

half cog

Senior Retro Guru
Bought the frame and forks new with headset a few years ago and so far I have done thirty six miles on it. Twenty to run the winter tyres in and a couple of eight mile winter rides. Its just not getting used even though it is a superb machine for the bridleways. As a cross bike it has a bit more life than a gravel bike and in winter with the studded marathons on you can ride on sheet ice with absolute confidence.Having said that thr first time you do it is a bit wierd untill you realise just what it is capable of.The frame is 7005 triple butted and the fork is full carbon. It has a 3x8 drivetrain and mavic ma3 rims on tiagre hubs.Rear mech is deore with sore shifters and brakes are dia comp xcm. The winter tyres plus the chainset were all bought new at the same time as the frame set.The bike has never been raced or crashed. Its a do anything machine. As said it is 55 cm c to top with a 4 cm extension. The top tube is 55 cm c to c.So why am i selling it. Well in a couple of years time i hit 80 so am limiting my riding to the road. Sad but i have had 61 years in the saddle so time for a rethink on thr off road stuff. Looking for £390 for it. Can post at buyers risk and cost or you are wellcome to collect or meet up in sunny yorkshire. ( harrogate area ). Any questions I will get back to you a.s.a.p

Presume no one wants this so its into the back of the garage until winter . Put the ice tyres back on then hopefully we get more snow and off we go x bike snow.jpg

Thank you. Offers considered if anyone is interested. The reason I am selling is genuine. Broke my arm in a fall off a ladder last october and starting to realise im possibly no longer bomb proof.Having said that. What the hell I would still go for a bit of snow biking if the weather plays ball. The peace and quiet is wonderfull. In better control than a landrover discovery i followed down the hill back into the valley. He went round the first corner broadside.I rode straight through. Its the snow tyres. Wonderfull stuff

I think if you're able to ride in that, don't stop pedaling. There is a today's ride and unofficial photography thread where stories and pictures are enjoyed by all.

Cheers. If I get any interesting photos this winter I may well look at that. The only thing I would say to anyone going snow biking is make sure your bike is totally sorted. You could not have taken a car out on that particular day. As the chap in the landrover found out.In short you are beyond rescue so you need to be completely self reliant. When I started riding 61 years back my parents did not have a car or even a phone and mobile phones were not invented. If you are fifty plus miles out you are on your own.You soon learned to service your bike.On club rides anyone who broke down more than once got a stiff talking to. Different now. There are riders whos tool kit is their phone.Cant help but feel its a backward step

Only tried to sell this on here but judging by the lack of response am not going any further ( e bay e.t.c.)So its bring on the snow and enjoy it.Thanks to those who expressed likes. Its back int shed time
