Yeah odd for sure, but the tow line came in quite handy sometimes...

This was my setup for a 5-day trip in the Alps. I didn't use a saddle bag because I had to be able to pull my daughter uphill. We stayed in huts so we didn't need a tent. I also had my bike backpack with me for the hiking boots.

What's the top tube bag make?

Hi all ,

I need some advice for a mechs for a Touring Bike I am building, based on an early 90's Marin Palisades.

Going to be using a 7 speed cassette 12-28 with Deore Thumbies. I have lots of mechs in the parts bin ranging from Acera/STX/LX/XT short and long cage and from mint to rough

What's the best option for durability/performance ?

Was swinging towards LX

I'd look for whichever is in the best condition, i.e. least wear in bushes and pulleys. All else being equal, and if it's for roughly the right chain width and will cover the range of sprockets, I'd probably go LX too.

Thanks, the LX looks neat in my opinion. The XT can then be sold off to fund future projects.

I finished my low budget bikepacking steed yesterday. The bag for the top tube is still missing, damn delivery times....
So far, only smaller tours in tame terrain are planned. Unfortunately, I don't have the time for bigger adventures at the moment.
