I have a beat up Ritchey Outback (special Edition made in Japan) I picked up at the swap meet that I could throw in here for a little selling exposure but it kinda takes away from the spirit of the competition. No?

Agreed. Businesses entering bikes that are for sale on ebay or their company's site, or seeing all the parts off an entered bike in the FS section the day after the competition ends (HAD to have been split before the votes were even tallied) takes away from the spirit (read: pride of ownership/build satisfaction) that the irreverent competition should foster.
