retro rc cars...............

Crikey, this brings back memories. I was right into that stuff in the 80's as a lad. Can't remember a thing about them now but remember all the fancy motors that our dads used to build. I had a Hotshot first off, twin front shocks IIRC which I got a carbon chassis for. My brother had a Boomerang that ended up under a passing car. I eventually got an RC10 and he got a Mardave Meteor which was tough and very sideways. We did a few races in the midlands-,Ashby de la Zuch rings a bell. There were two guys to beat at those races- Olly Marshal who now rallies a Subaru and a lad called Olly Gavin now who races works Pratt and Millar Corvettes at Le Mans and is one of the top sportscar drivers.

I think Tamiya did an Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 some time ago, lovely looking thing. I would love one, anyone know where I might find one?

Got a Manta Ray stuffed away somewhere. Fitted a 14 quad motor with too small a pinion gear, I remember it wheelspining all 4 wheels before catapulting itself into a workbench and smashing front the suspension mounts.

Replaced the suspension and straightened the bent 4wd linkage as best i could and found it wouldn't move an inch. Opened the gearbox to find the plastic cog that meshes with the metal pinion had become a smooth disc!

As far as I remember it's still in that state now. I keep planning to strip the radio gear for a RC speedboat which I still haven't built in 17 years!

Some very nice cars on here, very jealous of the Egress's I love em, I had a Avante which was in pretty poor shape and never got round to fixing it up so sold it on ebay a couple of years ago.

I've also got a Tamiya Topforce that I've had for erm about about 16 years lol and been slowly upgrading it here and there, have moments when I buy bits for it and then I kind of go off it again for a little while, needs a new shell and other bits but here it is.

With that and bikes and bass's there's no wonder I've never got any money lol.

Hey!!

How did i miss this thread??

Martin - it was a Thunderdragon I had :) But later put a thundershot body on in black and orange fade. Same chassis.

I still have a TL01B Statdium Raider, and Hornet, both originals.

Had a trashed to bits Monster Beetle, but was original, it was well bust and glued/wired/epoxied etc, but stuck it on the bay and made loads!!

Forgot to tell you lot, I have some retro r/c on ebay at the mo.

Job lot of 3 cars + 1 buggy including TL01 + TS03.
Dynatech 02 motor NOS.

Both auctions finish tomorrow 22/11 and are going cheap! My ebay user name is the same as my retrobike one. ;)

Also thinking about letting my Terra Scorcher and Egress/Avante 2001 projects go so PM me if interested.

I'll get some fresh pics of what's left of my collection up soon when I get chance to have a tinker with 'em. :D

the blue buggy is a sandmaster ;) i see in the box of bits theres a big spur gear , if it's not damaged it would be worth changing the listing to let people know this as you can't buy them anywhere . and i mean you can't buy them what-so-ever........... :D

or if you want to take it out and sell it to me as a spare then i'd take it :D :D :D :D :D

This has been discussed more than once before, but I never get tired of posting pix of my babies...

I've loved these things since the 80s when I had my first Scorcher.

They're all originals from around 1980, not the new re-release, but I am tempted to buy a couple of those too.
