Crikey, this brings back memories. I was right into that stuff in the 80's as a lad. Can't remember a thing about them now but remember all the fancy motors that our dads used to build. I had a Hotshot first off, twin front shocks IIRC which I got a carbon chassis for. My brother had a Boomerang that ended up under a passing car. I eventually got an RC10 and he got a Mardave Meteor which was tough and very sideways. We did a few races in the midlands-,Ashby de la Zuch rings a bell. There were two guys to beat at those races- Olly Marshal who now rallies a Subaru and a lad called Olly Gavin now who races works Pratt and Millar Corvettes at Le Mans and is one of the top sportscar drivers.
I think Tamiya did an Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 some time ago, lovely looking thing. I would love one, anyone know where I might find one?
