If you have an old set of Mavic MTB whhels, or their hubs that required a spacer behind Shimano 8/9 speed cassettes, you already have an HG11 Freehub ( IDK if Mavic road stuff is the same or not?) Now Shimano road, and MTB 11 speed hubs are different. Road uses the wider HG11 spline freehub, but MTB uses the HG spline for 8-11 speed and dishes the larger MTB inner cog to clear the spokes.
Prestacycle makes some very nice lightweight cassettes in HG11 and gets well into MTB range, while keeping the weight down by using an alloy block for the 2 largest cogs. SRAM 8/9 derailleurs should work with 11s shifters (Sram, and Shimano)

Compared to SRAM similar products, and the 11-40t and 11-42t are lighter than the lightweight all steel 11-34t, plus not needing a new wheelset
