Retro Full Suss - The good, the bad and the ugly?

Thanks for that, I'd had a quick browse of idriders earlier looking for specs, etc.

Am I right in thinking that Proflex used elastomers in 96 so Girvins with a spring have been upgraded?

Yes - mine is an 856 which had eleastomes and the gold 'ODS' shock - these can be converted to coil with a kit from RD :D

This is hopefully what I'm picking up fingers crossed. I'm assuming these are RD springs??

Woooooohooooo, i am glad you bought that!! Yuo wont regret it and you will be pleased how tight you can get the back, tight enough to almost not bob but ease the rear. You have a rare one there too. The springs you have are great, much better than the elastomers and Girvins always look awesome.

Congrats Dainesefreak!!!!

Had you seen this one then? Thought I'd got it under the radar. ;)

I'm waiting to hear back from the owner; asked about postage, not sent payment yet. It may be a cash on collection job so I'm priming wifey to drive me over.

I had and its a lovely bike. You will really enjoy riding that. Its funny as i always liked the look for them but when i last had one there was just nothing like it. Aside from looks they ride so well and really are a perfect XC bike. They are not the lightest bike out there but will NEVER break and will ride so much better than the wieght suggests!

The XP8 is the top of the line World Cups chassis model and are really quite rare. Congrats though, i am really pleased to see you are getting that. I know i harped on a bit in your thread but tell me after two weeks of riding it that we (Proflex owners) were'nt right!.

Cant wait to see the rest of your pics.

Hopefully I won't need to do much to this other than replace the Saddle and service the gears/brakes.

It's definately going to be a rider, that was always going to be the main criteria for buying; as well as price. The Torus can be the main Garage Queen now.
