Removing pedal (cracked spindle)

My pedal spindle has cracked (typical XTR) literally in 4-5 places

Has anyone had this and removed it? successfully or unsuccessfully....

I know its anyones guess but any sort of idea of the realistic chances of a successful removal without stripping the crank arm thread or even cracking the crank arm as the spindle once cracked tends to splay?

I am guessing its completely not worth the risk especially with it being a really nice condition XTR crank but I won't be happy until I've messed up the crank I guess *sighs*

Remove crank and pedal from bike, remove pedal body from spindle, grab the (buggered anyway) spindle in the vice and turn the crank off. File/grind some flats in the pedal spindle if necessary.

What model pedal is it? I’ve got a few sets of XTR pedals and they’ve been 100% reliable over many miles. One set must easily have 20k miles on them.

Yep, had this and needed to save the carbon cranks the pedal was stuck in. Do exactly as Klunkrider says, worked fine for me!

Hi they are PD-M9000

I'm not the original owner but they're low mileage I'd say, possibly he's overtightened it.

Thank you all for your fast responses, tips and help its much appreciated.

I don't use cleats I wanted to go to a more modern flat (Have a pair of Saints laying around which would go perfect with the titanium and XTR theme), annoying.

However if I manage to get them off and someone needs a non drive side PD-9000 or could salvage them I'll put them up
