Rear wheel moving under load

Took my colnago out of attic for ride now that weather turning better. Took off wheels to give everything good clean and lube before riding out today. Straight away noticed gears/chains jumping. Then when going up a hill and especially when getting out of the saddle the gears started jumping and the rear wheel started to move until it sat tight up against the caliper and stuck hard. Nearly fell off bike when it locked up suddenly. Got off and adjusted wheel and tried again. Wheel started moving again. Any ideas on what is happening?

normaly due to wrong axle spacing ive found, you want the wheel to be a snug fit in the frame, ive seen bmxs do this an you undo the wheel nuts and the frame spreds agood 5mm or so

The bike was riding fine withe wheels for 6 months prior to storage on daily 25 mile commutes. Only happened after taking it out again. It's a 9 speed ultegra wheel on a colnago master pui from the 90's. Checked the cassette and qr and teeth are fine the skewer nice and tight. The other weird thing is the gears were jumping up AND down the cogs. As though it was changing mind about where to sit whilst pedalling. IFIIKWH!

My master does it if I don't have the quick release super tight

Really? That's weird? Still doesn't answer why it wud do this but I'll have a go and making it super tight. Cheers

Is the axle bent? Have you knocked the mech while taking the wheel out. Could be one of those things that hasnt got anything to do with you taking the wheel out just happens that its gone wrong at about the same time.
