RBotM - November - BRITISH MONTH - Nominations

Re:

Ohhh, that's nice Foz.

I have an Arthur Caygill mtb from around the same period and it's superbly made and rides like a dream. I imagine yours is the same.

Good luck finding nice 7400 running gear, I've just been there for my 91 Lemond SLX.

Out of the country at the mo so won't be able to post this recently restored Carlton with the leather seat and mudguards until I'm back in Dec, some amazing bikes in this thread.

Some lovely bikes out there. I'll chuck mine in just to keep the momentum going. Never been entered.
It's a skip-rescue Carlton, no idea what. The frame number suggests 1979. The transmission, brakes, shifters, pedals and seatpost were on the bike; everything else is ebay. I built the wheels from some 1980s Maillard hubs and new rims and stainless spokes from SJS. The shotblast and powdercoat was by Bettablast of Shiremoor and the transfers came from Lloyds.
I just went for a "look" and I was pretty pleased with the results, just looking for some skinnier rubber - where to look for 27" tyres?

Just goes to show the quality and breadth of English machines, this has been one of the best threads in a long while. Hope to see more of this type. Long live British bikes!
