Hanebrink, Monolith, Green or that carbon fibre Specialized FSR.

Monolith! Definitely hard to find! I still have the Monolith Rebound fork waiting for a matching frame :(

I have only seen one before!

I've seen pictures of a carbon fibre monolith too :D

I've got a Mantis Flying V, currently in strip down waiting paint, probably Kawasaki green, sadly it's only one of the post sale frames and not a Cunningham one. :(

Other bikes i remember, Outland VVP, Morales Convertable & Nevil Devil.

JP Weigle made some beautiful, let me say again, beautiful early mountain frames.

Silky smooth fillet brazing carefully caressed with luxsurious paint...oh yeah!

He's one of those early builders who approach frame construction with a heavy dose of artistic expression through elegant function.

I rooted through the J.P. Weigle file and found these. Top photo is Pete Weigle and another guy, around 1983. (The tires look like original Stumpjumpers.) The other is a detail shot of a bike. Pete's wife Betsy did the paint jobs, and the sticker on the fork blade says "Spray by Betsy."

More Weigle shots (and you might recognize a few of the others):

Chris Chance and Gary Helfrich in the top shot, Crested Butte 1986(?). Didn't they roll the Cadillac that year?

There's only been one TOAD on this forum (mine) but Im so crud at actually working out how to build it it hasnt really had much showtime.

I'd like to see it.

An ORT is on my list to find and build. Really don't see many around.

Okay here it is. My final word.

This is rare---->

display_temp.jpg

Having ridden the actual bike in that picture...it's as impressive to ride as it is to look at.

Pretty uncommon bike...so you could say rare. However, it seems quite a few are accounted for because of their desirability and collectibability.

The rare ones I can think of are Rotec - although one was for sale on ebay a while back. Possibly my favourite would be a Coella though. One of the guys I used to ride with had one. Had a very hard life and finally cracked - tore the head tube off! But I don't know of many other bikes that would have taken half the punishment! The other that I would dearly like to own is the Muddyfox Interactive Ultimate.

Well it was once so good to be seen on my Trimble. Sitting at the lights waiting when just before they changed a guy walks up to me and says ' Nice bike. He hasn't seen one of them for decades'.
Not often i meet some one in London who knows a Trimble. As they are very rare. :D

personally I think my unicorn is a mid eightys Bright yellow Muddy Fox Explorer.

Not a rubbish bike, but not a great oneand a real piece of UK Mountain bike history. It was the first mountain bike I owned in about '84-'85 and I'd love another, wouldn't want to ride it, just own one again.

Never seen a good one since.
Me too i had one. Had it nicked
