Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

From memory and what pat told me was they're wrapped, so much so some of the bikes de bonded as the wrap prevented 100% bonding into the lugs......still cool though

Dial/b&q pai t stripped is quite good, brush it on, wrap with cling film and the next day any shoddy paint will peel off

Hello fellow Dynatech fans!

A few years ago I obtained an incomplete 92 Diablo DX. The frame and forks had been blown over in metallic green by a previous owner.

I have this crazy notion to try and slowly rub off the green paint with abrasive paper to see if I can reveal its true colours underneath.

Anyhow I was wondering what finish was used to give the main tubes their multi-coloured appearance? Is it paint or is it some kind of "wrap"
Cheers
Me fella has a diablo dx that had black paint splatters over it (from a previous owner) not as severe as what you’ve got but he used quick clay and a little bit of that with some time and elbow grease… not a quick process but if there’s any little bits you can’t get off with thinner might be helpful. Good luck! 👍👍

Can any Dyna fans identify this white frame and for bonus points take a punt at what the original components would have been? Cheers.

Pretty sure it’s a Solaris. If I remember correctly it would’ve had LX parts and a Rockshox Mag 30 fork
I stand corrected
Checked archives and yes
The Solaris Titanium came with the following components:
a. Shimano LX hubs, Mavic M232 rims and Michelin tires
b. Acera Shimano rear derailleur
c. Shimano LX front derailleu
d. rusty chain
e. Shimano deore thumb shifters hahahaha! (collectible)
f. Rock Shox Magnesium (don't know anything about them)
g. Dia Compe 986 canti lever brakes and pads
h. Dia Compe brake levers
i. Tioga Oversized headset threaded
j. Crankset, 175, triple chainring (I'm guessing it's Shimano LX or DX)
k. Stem 1" ---unmarked, looks cheap
l. Handlebar, flat --unknown brand
m. Onza bar ends ---one is scuffed
n. Seatpost Dyna-Tech
o. Wellgo plastic platform pedals.

Rear dropouts lack the pannier holes on this frame - they’re present on the catalogue
