Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

Here's my D stamped 93 MT4 all cleaned a polished. New decals from Gil and start rebuild next week. Not sure if the bars I bought will be too narrow at 500mm but will see once levers and grips are on.

Thank you for your feedback!

I purchased the beauty some months ago (together with a Crosstrac Sonoma - yes, I do like the rare and bizarre stuff from the early 90th).

Paintscheme (and stickers) are a little mystery since they seem to belong to a MT5 frameset, but on the other hand we have the Decade decal and the MK1 fork + almost all 'original' Decade parts used (the additional wheelset I purchased has xtr 900 hubs and Bontrager rims).

And - based on the frame number xxx003 I would guess it is a very early version of the Decade.
Maybe the German Sales Manager liked purple more than red?

With kind regards,
Volker
Is that the frame number on the sticker at the bottom of the seat tube or the one under the bottom bracket?

My Decade has xxx070 on the sticker. I think that would make it the 70th MMC frame made. Yours being 003 must be one of the very first.

One of the later ones ! Looking almost new! Really good one with those original forks - absolutely love those

Hello Ed,

At the bottom of the seattube my Decade has the MM-sticker (MM6214).

Relevant I guess is the number 'in' the BB shell; that number should be model-specific. Mine is C49303.
I'm pretty sure that "C" stands for the year of production = 1992; "49" for the frame size (mine is really large); "3": I have no clue...; and "03" the serial number.
I doubt that "303" is the serial number, since not more than 30 - 50 Decades were produced. But maybe they put the MT5 and Decades together... who knows 😉
But - that's just my estimation!

Hello Volker,

The number in the BB shell of mine is - C32240. The seat tube number is MM6070.

Agree that the "C" is year of production. I don't think "32" is the frame size as mine is a lot larger than that.

My theory - 32240 is the next number for any dynatech being built. The MM6070 is the serial number for just the MMC frames. But that would make mine number 70 and yours 214. But that seems very odd!

I think we need to find some more Decades!

Cheers
Ed

Hello Ed,

That's really mysterious... to me it seemed to be so logically with the frame size after the "C"... 😇
And by the way - mine is closer to be 51 cm, than 49.

Yeah, we need some more Decades (and maybe also compare it with the MT5 frames).
But - seems to be pretty hard to find some...

Your Decade is also equipped with the MK1 fork?

Best regards,
Volker
