Question about a 96 Bontrager Privateer

Hey there, I am trying to confirm seatpost size specification for a 1996 Bontrager Privateer. I am still awaiting delivery of the bike or I would not be bothering you for this information. Having owned a Race Lite and a Ti-Lite in the past I know those were 26.8mm and 27.0mm seatpost sizes respectively. The Privateers are always generally know for 27.0mm seatposts as well, but the first year privateer frames in 96 with the cantilever hangers were different than the remaining year frames and may be 26.8mm. The pdf catalogue for 1996 indicates it "does" have a 26.8mm post, but that could potentially be an information typo and I am trying to confirm one way or the other. Hopefully someone who either currently owns or has owned a 96 Privateer can confirm for sure.

Just pulled the post on mine (owned from new), 27.0 for sure. That post was replaced under warranty, broke at the clamp but the 2nd post seems to be lasting pretty well. Some might say it's because I'm not riding it enough....

Thanks for verifying that for me, its really appreciated! I just took delivery of a nice 26.8 ti post that I will have to find a new home for.

I won and paid for this newly acquired 96 Privateer back on 10/23 and it still hasnt been shipped yet due to some issues going on with a death in the sellers family. Ultimately I may end-up just getting my money back if the seller cant get the bike out to me I guess. Hopefully thats not the case, but if so I will be looking for a new frame that fits my 26.8mm seatpost!
