Let’s be civil with each other instead of veiled smears and accusations.

Veiled smears?
Accusations?

Get a sense of perspective - final words

Just had five parcels from China come via their cheapest solution all estimated some time next year.

Came in a out 7 or 8 days.
Quicker then they're shifting UK mail around.and for less than the P&P for each item over here, bike and electrical bits.

Only one item still outstanding.

 yep, 20 days for my last uk-uk parcel

If you insist on having final words ,then these are mine;

The solution to any problem CANNOT and should not be worse than the actual problem!

That's crazy, snail mail....

Normally at this time of the year the post office, and all the other mail and courier services would take on hundreds to thousands of extra staff. The PO alone takes on about 30 thousand.
This year and due to this virus, that hasn't happened and worse is that many of their regular staff are either off ill or are in isolation.
This won't only be limited to UK firms but to the majority of European, and in other parts of the world.

Take the NHS. They've currently got 30,000 staff of sick or in isolation. Hard to run those operations with staffing levels such as they are.

Perhaps it would have been prudent not to go off buying this and that from far outwith the UK :?

Hindsight is a great thing. I didn't see this one coming this time.
I'm hoping that it will be a short-lived suspension and before long it will be business as usual :xmas-wink:

I can read and you said much without meaning to.
Then you couldn’t help but prove my point with your ‘final words’.
Go to sleep

Nite nite

Please guys let's leave it at that.

It's a time for coming together, not a time for division.

We are all entitled to our own views, this is what makes each of us unique! Hell if we all thought the same how rubbish would that be? Hive mind mentality.

I didn't intend to start this kind of thread, was just airing frustrations and letting those who are waiting on or who have sent items out know that this was the situation.

Same here and my partner is living and working in Madrid, I haven't seen her since July and not likely to until Easter at this rate. Until the new virus strain is understood, the current restrictions are sensible. The same postal restrictions were also implemented earlier this year for a period.
Sorry, feel I had to put this in, afterall, you've shared your opinion and I'd like to make mine clear too - then we can carry on talking about bikes: the current restrictions are an absolute irrational nonsense - I've heard of people stowing away in containers, weapons, drugs and bombs being stowed away but never microscopic organisms - unless of course they weren't there last week and just happened to appear the day our Dear Leader said so.

Anywya, seems as if I wont be buying anything from abroad for the time being. I was hoping to get hold of a few parts from Italy - but so much for that.

You forget that the parcels have to be driven onto and off the boats by humans and that's where the virus transmission occurs. So until we have self driving trucks.
Also the massive queue to get to the docks means the drivers are facing 2 nights stuck on the side of the motorway, so not much point in adding to that. Flights are also restricted for crew virus transmission reasons. Pre flight or sailing, rapid testing may elevate some restrictions soon.
