Just watched coppers on more 4. Several people were arrested for being abusive yet the police were being more abusive to the people they were arresting, who is most in the wrong. I must point out that I am not anti police but as one of them said they are not allowed to respond in a similar way strikes me as hypocritical.

Sorry if this comes out badly I'm happily drunk, but you know what I'm on about

I think the behaviour of the police in general has improved over the last couple of decades, but there is huge room for improvement still.

I was thrown in the back of a van for intervening as two officers assaulted someone. They roughed me up pretty well.

Had a couple of similar experiences, but on the whole most times the police have been carrying out a difficult role and kept most of their normal human reactions in check.

Those TV shows tend to focus on conflict for the sake of drama.

i saw that too, it seems like the police create most of the problems half the time. the copper arrested the kid for calling him a bas***d then proceded to call him a little p***k. an embarrassment to the uniform.

With police and I do apologise if it offends some members here as i know there are some scuffers here, but the saying ;

It takes a thief to catch a thief,

Often rings true, so of unlawful behaviour and I have seen it myself coppers have incited unlawful behaviour in others.

Could it be perhaps why the policy enforcers are not generally respected ?

What does the word; 'police' mean ?

It is a money game.

If we say 'The Police' every time an incident takes place that puts a copper in bad light, should we say 'we' everytime an offence is committed by a member of the public?

People are all individuals and responsible for their actions.

If English football fans decided to riot in Poland, would we be happy if the Polish press labelled 'English' people as thugs?

I believe most see coppers in their official capacity to not be part of the 'us', but be part of the 'them' or at best an intermediary between them and us with emphasis on the them rather than us.

At one time coppers were respected by most, what has happened, for coppers to have lost respect ?

Maybe it is the politics and what chief constables are told to adhere to by politicians with their flavour of the month ideas but forget the grass roots, the bobby on the beat everywhere and into everything, where now they hide away in cars awaiting a call. to go and wade in clueless to situations beyond what they see in their late arrival.

I've seen in my life that people (some of each are my friends) that don't respect the authority (justice, cops, or whatever type) normally are the ones affected by the lack of understanding by them. Its like when you show fear to a dog. I think they know and get jumpy when they detect some one that can trespass the boundaries.
I never had any problems. And I have been in all sorts of situations.
But, on that certain moment where you can go crazy and blame it all on them, I remain calm. Thats it.

The the only time I really needed the police they screwed it up so badly the judge at the Crown Court ripped into them for their incompetence, two counts of attempted murder it started out as the finality was common assault with 180 days community service, three broken ribs and a fractured skull and that was the verdict, when we are told a blow to the head is instant GBH, how about a kicking to the head over and over again where there was a clear imprint in my face of the foot used to stamp my head in, a footprint that was used in the investigation, what investigation people with previous for violent offences stayed free, free to damage or kill someone else. The hospital said the damage would normally have been fatal given the injuries sustained, but I survived to be let down by our wonderful justice system, oh and the accused had a barrister paid for by legal aid, myself working on less than 20 k per annum could not afford such luxuries, I am still that angry !

Tell me is it usual for a only a constable to investigate an attempted murder, not just of myself you understand, but my ex wife who had an asthma attack and could not breathe to raise help ? Oh and at the time of the attack, five separate people called it in , but the cops turned up after myself in the ambulance had departed, and we only lived a mile from Cowley nick. They caught up with us at the hospital where I believe I told them to f off as what use are they when they are needed somewhere between consciousness and unconsciousness, I don't remember saying that, but I was I told I said it.

And exactly what use where they, they inspired hope in justice, the first line of investigation and they screwed it up, bunch of fecking useless cnuts.
