Please help identify this NOS frame-Ritchey-Sunn-Voodoo-RM-

Re:

since your new on here, I'm not insulting your intelligence, but there's a member who can make you decals like the ones in the link above ^^^^ if you want to go down the route of branding it up.

this frame does look similar except for the dropouts: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=271397

Also on this thread: "The serial number on my 98 Sunn starts with an S and then a series of numbers with the second two being 97, so I presume that was the build year as opposed to the selling year. I may have come from a different factory though." Another thread with a Sunn frame mentioned the S followed by year.

Frame number could give some answers, S might be Sunn, 95 the year. Frameweight could indicate tubing quality by the way my Sunn frame had a 27mm or 26.8 mm seat tube (long ago, can't remember exact).

If you like the looks and it is your size go for it, can become a nice ride.

I dont have the frameweight right now, how much should it weight in order to be consider a really good one?
I dont have seat tube diameter , but I promise I will have it by tomorrow!!

Re: Re:

just spat coffee over my desk...... f*** that's cheap

that's around 60 USD, with Ritchey drop outs its not going to be some $2 Taiwanese sweetshop knock off
so I'd buy it and build it up into something nice[/quote]

LOL  thanks!! I will get it ASAP , finally!! i found something good!! I will consider it my Unicorn!! I hope is still there  it has been there around 20 years but some guys started to talk about why was I taking pictures to a frame that old and dusty

Now i feel kinda stupid of not buying it in the first place

S95… looks like a sunn model number (made 1995, probably sold 1996), but the seatpost split is in the wrong place for a steel sunn frame (should be on the front) and I've never seen a sunn frame with integrated seatpost collar.

That said, the rest looks a lot like sunn, even down to the cable routing. My money's on one of the "specials" - Dix, Chipie, Pré etc.

Actually, there you go. Chipie & Pre routed on the side, Dix on the top and also came in gold.

Also, jump all over it. That's a beautiful frame.

WOW!! that's a lot of information!! you really know your stuff,
im impressed, i really appreciate it, its practically the same frame, although i have a couple of questions,
that SUNN DIX, seems to have the seatpost split in the front, and it doesn't seems to have ritchey dropouts, could it be just because of the year difference? that frame in the link is a 93, this is supposedly a 95,
do you know how high or low is this frame in the Sunn line up?
you refer this frame as a "special one", is that why I cant find it in the catalog??

Thanks Retro Spud!! I would really like to go that route, I didn't know there was a member that could do that, I will look for it as soon as i get my hands on the frame and confirm what it is.

I appreciate every comment, no problem , Im really easy going, thanks for all the help :D

I does look similar, but it has different dropouts like you say, but it also has the seat post opening backwards, the top tube its lower than the seatstays, and the cable routing is on the side of the top tube instead of the top.

I guess this differences make it another frame , possibly another brand?

Pretty much every year Sunn made a year-specific model. The Dix was made for 1993 (dix == 10, 10 years since sunn started, under 10,000 FrF, under 10 kilos) so it's probably not one of those - Sunn *did* stick to the serial number thing all the way through so it would have to be a 95 or 96 bike if it's a sunn. It looks to have a 1" headset, too, '96 was the last year sunn did 1" across the range. Not sure if everything went 1 1/8 in '97, but...

side vs top routing is not a worry, the 95 / 96 revolts routed on top, as does my '97 xircuit

The dropouts would be the main indicator it's not a sunn - all the '90s sunn dropouts i've seen were stamped "sunn".

Whatever it is, though, it's gorgeous.
