has it been repainted at some point? or is the paintwork really that good??! (it looks virtually spotless).

No, when the brand saw its first outing at Malvern Hills, this was on display.

I remember that Malverns Carl; wasn't it the one where Kona had their first Hei Hei there doing the rounds? I was working in a bike shop tent at the time selling hundreds of tubes and Powerbars amongst other things  It was a hot one as far as I remember.

I spent quite some time drooling over the Zinns I must say. Still would like to add one to the collection one day :D

I almost wanna say it was a bit before the launch of the Hei hei. I was riding a An explosive with Track two forks From Second Level Sport, Your TBG/Merlin was top of the range in this year from memory.

Re:

You might well be right Carl, I know I was there a couple of years in a row and my memory isn't what it used to be  I do remember refusing to jump my Cinder Cone into the lake so my mate let me do it on his Team Marin

They look pretty much the same size don't they, give or take 1/2"

Re:

I would say so.

The Z-Classic is an inch bigger and you can tell by the length of the head tube.

Re:

Its defo a 1990 model. and my guess is a 17"

They listed them as 15", 17", 19" 21" and a THM size 23" + extension.

Head angle is 70" with a 16.5 chainstay length.

Also, unsure if the Z-Centaur came with the segmented fork on this model year I thought it was only the Z-753 until the following year, (happy to stand corrected on this)

Re:

It looks like the one in the scan
Good research Carl.

Not sure where the 19.5" measurement comes from then?

The pulley wheels must have come in in 91 then unless they were on the Z-753 that year!
