Peugeot PX10

Lovin' this - what a project! It's reminding me that I need to chase up my mate Bern and finalise the purchase of his Pug!

Can't wait to see this in the flesh.....

Thanks Mart! I am glad that you might be getting yourself a pug for the road, added incentive to get on with this one!

Re:

My '75 PX-10LE. By this stage as you can see, they don't have the intricate nervex lugs. Earlier versions of this model had these lugs painted black. I think they look better white but the older lugs look great in black.
My bike is mostly original except for the clincher conversion and shimano front mech. Eventually will track down the correct mech and convert back to singles (tubs).

Hi Tony

Thanks for the picture of your PX10, it looks lovely. I see you have the big flange hubs, are they 600's? The wheelset on mine is later, with module e rims, at least they are French and good quality!

Hi Does it have a Nervex Bottom Bracket Shell? & does it have a Six or seven figure frame number? Normally 60's frames have 6 numbers stamped into the BB shell where as the later 70 PX10 have a seven figure frame number on an alloy plate thats riveted to the BB shell.
I have one PX10 with all Nervex Lugs & BB shell & another with Nervex lugs but a different BB Shell from what little I know about them there are a few different variations with the lugs & the BB shell mix.
The best decals if you decide to completely refurbish it are from this guy http://cyclomondo.net/page20.htm. He also has the Nervx decal for the seat tube. Just be careful that you select the correct one for the year. set "No 10" I think is the correct ones for a 60's PX10?
What ever you do DON"T POWDER COAT the frame as its way too thick & you will loose the definition of the lugs.
All the parts are easily available even the Brake lever hoods. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAFAC-BLACK-R ... 20ee69bc29
Most expensive part is the Stronglight 63 Chainset (£150) but it looks like yours already has it & the Ideal 90 saddle (again a megga expensive item).
Normandy Luxe Competition large Flange hubs are what should be fitted.
this is one on my 2 PX 10's https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jw4im2volrtj ... Wz1Ca?dl=0
the other one I've not yet photographed.
Oh yea like whats already been mentioned, most people associate the PX 10 being White with Black Lugs (Peugeot Team Bikes) BUT before the team colours (early 60's bikes) they were Blue with Yellow Lugs, https://www.flickr.com/photos/classic-l ... 998104823/
The 2nd one of my 2 was Blue/Yellow when I purchased it, but foolishly I resprayed it White (doh)
Just one other thing i've just noticed are the forks original ?? as they don't look correct to me. Every 60's PX10 forks i've ever seen are normally painted top 2/3rds with chrome on the bottom 1/3 of the forks. BUT I'm no expert on these so could well be wrong on that one?
Hope thats of some help??

NB from what I've found out there is a lot of conflicting information out there on the PX 10's.

Hi stringellow1946, thank you for taking the time to post all this info, it is really useful. To answer your points:

The bottom bracket shell is stamped nervex with a 6 digit number. I will get a photo of this up when I can, it looks like there is some other markings below 'Nervex', but I have not been able to work out what they are because it is slightly obscured with paint.

Thank you for the decal link it is much appreciated. I have seen the blue and yellow bikes and think they are lovely, I will have to decide on colour, from what I could tell either white or blue would be ok but I stand to be corrected on this point!

I have no plans to powder coat the frame for the same reason you mention, it would be the wrong thing to do, I would like to preserve the originality rather than cover it up.

When I went to look at the bike I had the same concern as you about the fork. I asked the previous owner and he said that he had removed the paint and just left the chrome exposed. Judging by the crown, angle and weight of the fork I can't see any reason for this not to be the case.

Thanks again for all the info, I am now going to have look through the photos of your bikes!
