EU have banned the ingredient in Nitromors that makes it work so well

ran out the other day on the proflex project so nipped to halfords to get some more
Utter Rubbish now takes hours to work and you practically have to bath the bike in it to get it to work even though the tin says its now twice as good, lies

GRRRRR the EU is starting to annoy me

Agreed, got some today to strip paint off some rims, nice new bright green colour, unfortunately, no paint stripping effect............

totally rubbish i phoned them up and they said that you have to apply one coat wait 10 minutes and then apply another and then leave for 45 minutes and even then only about 60% came off

the guy on the phone however said go to a small local hardware shop and you should be able to pick up some of the old stuff they cant make anymore but they can sell whats left up till December

I descovered that B&Q stripper works a bit better but you have to leave it overnight. If you leave it over night it does bubble up like the old nitromors did in seconds. It does work you just need patience

Hmm, watching this with interest as I have a frame that requires a full paint removal before painting.

It might be best looking for a local blasting firm then, rather than the Nitromorse route?

it really depends on patience if you have all day to mess about with paint stripper Nitro-Mors will work eventually (but be warned you have to use loads and its not that cheap) or perhaps the B&Q stuff you leave overnight (which i think is the same price as Nitro-Mors but you get more in the bottle ??)

but if you want it done in a hurry blasting seems the only option don't think there are any places left you can dip strip stuff in acid ??

dont panic, here in Austria solvent based laquers and paint stripper stuff like Nitromors are banned from public use since ages and the really usefull stuff is limited to the pros  dont worry you get used to it

With the cost of Nitromors at above £15 a tin, plus you need brushes, and the cost of your time, it soon mounts up to make it more economic to use a "professional" blasting/stripping company.

After I'd spent a fruitless weekend with the 'new' Nitromors, I gave up and enlisted a local company to strip my Gary Fisher frame; cost em £30, but they got all the paint off (in all the various nooks and crannies) and all I needed to do afterwards was go over it with a fine wet-and-dry paper and then polish it up (I'm not having it re-powder coated or anything).

It's one of those jobs that depends on how committed/lazy you are, and how much time you have. Having burned two full days trying with 'new' Nitromors, I threw in the towel and called the up the pros!
