Pace...where's it all going?

Tiny frame, huge wheels, 'fashionable' spec, truely, truely dreadful. All the magazines will heap it with praise of course.

No doubt future owners will wax lyrical about all the features, ride it 30 minutes at a time and then shove it in the shed.

Where the hell is biking going?

SP

It's got the Pace name so will get good reviews and sell to those who want to 'keep it real' :D

Will it get great reviews though!?
Pace are know for the square framed bikes they built, since Pace gave you a choice of 3 bikes to buy i havent heard anything about them really if im correct the last Pace that was in test got a 6/10
The new Pace bikes wouldnt be anywere near the top of my list to purchase thats for sure, either full sus or rigid

The market has changed loads over the years as we are all aware of. I am know that pace would love to do something totaly mind blowing.
As a fish in a big pond you have to produce a product which can sell in enough volume and a fair enough price to make a living. The products which They produce have enough of their style and inovation for me and I will continue to support them as much as I can. Sure I would love the products to be made in the uk .... in house.... But that ain't gonna pay the bills when the rrp ends up at £2000 for a alloy frame and your profit is 5%

I get were you are coming from, but orange do spend alot of money advertising in mags, so if the mags didnt rate them they wouldnt advertise with them, more money a company spends with a mag the better reveiws they will get, thats what i believe anyway. i suppose i just do not like common bikes, i dont really think its anything to do with the quality, but when i see alot of a certain bike i just think, AAHHHHHH another one of them and take a dislike to them.
Yes i agree trek are becoming common, and when large companies start discounting bikes it kind of like puts the product down, you see alot of new bikes nearly half price and that to me is wrong, and it doesnt help when you come to try and sell it, you end up paying full wack for a bike lets say £3K somewere then flogs em out at the back end of the year for 2K your £3K bike in under a year becomes worth £1K

Does that mean the Blue Pig's going in the bin when every Tom, Dick and Harry has them then mate? Heard nothing but good reports about Ragley so far so who are they paying off?? ;) :D

I am very biased though, as my bike history will back up. (but I have riden lots of others).

Brock, you've had more Oranges than the man from Del Monte. ;)

LGF, I didn't know cocks grew that big.

Pace

I only ever saw them as trying to do something different to attract sales, regardless of how poorly engineered the framesc actually were and how badly they road and frequently they snapped.
Now all they want to do is copy, when what we want is innovation.

if you go to these trail centres eg Glentress and the Welsh ones all you bloody see is middle aged idiots with a serious face on bouncing up and down on thenm in a flat carpark, and what you normally find the bike they are on is either a Specialzied or a 5 and it does my head in

Why do you care so much about what (and how) other people ride? Must be very tiring.

I agree......but there is something funny about a guy, say 39, getting his grey specialised stumpjumper (model number........... 464837463645365463545432156545454545645454564632746374576235427653465327654526745276457624587623161453547654 out of his white transit combi, clipping in and circling the vecinity bouncing about pulling a funny face!, they all do it !, why ?

Ha Ha....something i notice too, but clearly not with the same vengance!

Well.... Had a go on my pals new Blue Pig today and s'orite. Not much give in the steel but quite like the frame angles. Felt a lot like a full suss without the rear bounce. Would like to try one of those new Pace frames to compare. Still prefered my 5, but that's just me.

Can't really get my head round modern hardtails as I'm used to retro ridgid bikes. Think I'll stick with my Vit-T for non full suss duties. :D

I used to live in North Wales and new the trails like the back of my hand, I often used to bait the 'bounce it in the car park' crowd on my 15 year old GT. :)
