Pace fork experts please! Anodised, or not?

Mag air valve are cheap enough,
Done many an air valve into 'top caps' for people of all the different types. There is one that's a right arse though.

You still need crown/steerer.

A quick one - I've bought some Pace forks. The question is are the crown and brace anodised? They'll need tarting-up but don't want to attack with Autosol if they're anodised as I reckon it's better to leave alone.

Pop a pic of the Pace fork on here for id. Pace crowns were mostly anodised, some in colours. If it is the fork in the pic at the thread start(1994 RC35 XCS) then the bridge/brace is raw ally & not anodised, will polish up if needed. Earlier Tube bridge RC35 bridge was painted, then went to chrome. MXC/D bridges were anodised.

I have full range of 1” & 1 1/8” steerers in stock at the mo. so can help with threaded or ahead.
Elastomers and single lip seals are available from John Deverill on here & I recommend them.
Cheers.

That's really useful - they're AB model. Now they're in-hand I agree - crown anodised - the brace dull and will take a good polishing. Thanks for the lead re: elastomers - I whipped them apart at the end of work today and they are well and truly 'gone'! I need to have a good measure-up but I will be needing a much longer 1" threaded steerer. I'll pm when I've identified what I need.
Thanks!

Cool, threaded steerers available in 3 lengths:
180mm
210mm
240mm

That is the actual length of the steerer. They all have approx. 50mm thread and the circlip in the groove at the base.

Allow approx 30mm for depth of crown + headset stack height + head tube length = steerer length. Fine adjustment is made by cutting the threaded end to suit.

You will need a 1” ‘crown race collar’ to fit the headset crown race unless the crown has a reducer shim fitted which should have an upstand above the crown to take the race.
Cheers.

Sadly, from memory I believe I need 250mm from the crown race. I was going to contact Ceeway for a long steerer and get my local machine shop to machine the circlip groove using the fitted one as a pattern.

Wow, that is a long steerer, not sure Peter does a threaded longer than 240, but then I have never been asked for one. The ahead steerers are 300mm I think.
