No pedal powered bicycle needs 4 pot calipers. Though if you like em ride em.

I did say pedal powered. I'm not brave enough to need them.True.
But GRAVITY powered bikes do, I think.
10 mins descents we do in the summer are marked by startling brake fade, plus turns at the bottom of seemingly near vertical run-ins - which 4 pots counter nicely,...my profile picture shows the side of the valley we like inhabiting on our DH bikes....
Wouldn't mind seeing some more pics of your valley, looks stunning. And I frequently am not brave enough to NOT need them...
Speed is your friend...
Get off the brakes...
That’s all right In theory but I like having some anchors to throw out....
Vercorin - long swoopy fire roadsWouldn't mind seeing some more pics of your valley, looks stunning.
I run Vintage Avid (not SRAM) BB7 brakes with metallic pads, and 203mm/180mm Shimano ICE alloy rotors. Jagwire Pro Elite Link segmented alloy cables for the flexible parts, and metal automotive hydraulic lines over the rest. Used to be called Full Metal Jacket. Before the ICE rotors the paint would blister off of the rear (SRAM) caliper from holding speed down hills. I didn't notice anything until I changed the pads. They worked just fine even when letting the smoke out of them.
