Hi
My BB is feeling a bit grindey so I think it needs overhauling.

It looks like it is cup style, do I just get a big adjustable wrench and removre the black cover in the picture?

Thanks
Lee

That is the right-hand or commonly called "fixed cup" side. There are better tools than an adjustable for it ; and please also remember that it will have a left hand thread.

Thanks.

Does a tool exist specifically for this job? Is this the side I should be undoing? I couldn't see anything to grip on the other side.

Remove the left(non chainwheel side) first. If you're not using the BB again, you can bodge it out with a punch(right hand threads) remove the lock ring and then the cup, pull the axle out with the bearings. Then on the right(chainwheel) side(left hand threads) will likely be more difficult, however a large adjustable may work, and if not your nearest LBS can remove it.
Regards

Probably best to clean the fixed r/h cup in situ to assess its condition first before removing it (which obviously wouldn't be req. if it's serviceable).
